I am addicted to Kelley Armstrong's urban paranormal novels. This book was mainly based on Clayton and his childhood, getting bitten by a werewolf as a child after challenging one to turn him into one too or he would turn him into the law. Then it skips to his subsequent living life as a "mutt", until Jeremy finds him and brings him into the pack and raises him as his son and later turns out to be his enforcer. There is trouble in the pack with politics and logistics as well, but I will leave that to the reader. It also highlights Jeremy's relationship with Jamie, who I love to read about. She is an amazing character. Jeremy also finds out about his true heritage that has been a mystery to him his entire life. I just wish it was longer. I recommend the book for adults due to subject matter and would definitely recommend this book and all of her other ones to anyone who loves urban paranormal fantasy books with strong characters with an unusual twist that makes the pages sizzle and the book fly bye. I'm on to my next one....

Kelley Armstrong is one of my favorite authors for a reason Her stories are very believable, even with all the otherworldly aspects added in. The characters, though superhuman, are so real.

The stories behind Jeremy's Pack have always intrigued me, and it's for this reason that I have read and re-read this book so many times since I bought it in 2009. Though fans of Armstrong's work mostly know how the stories end (if you've read the other books and know the story), these prologues captivate, revealing more of the characters and reeling you even further in.

This book does not disappoint in the least. Read this one--you will not regret it.
I can't believe I somehow missed this collection! I read everything Kelley Armstrong writes. It was a lovely surprise to find something about these beloved characters that I had overlooked and could enjoy afresh. Armstrong is a supreme storyteller who makes characters so alive you want to get in the car and go meet them!
I picked up this book after enjoying the TV series so much so that I had to read the books. This book is so worth reading as it gives you an insight into Clay and Jeremy's characters before Elena came along. With Nick also being a part of this time. You get a better understanding of their characters now and why they do the things they do and react in the way that they do. I have never loved werewolves until reading and watching this series. Kelley Armstrong has finally written a story that has made me fall head over heels in love with them and this is a first for me. I highly recommend reading this book and the other books in the series.

Words can't describe how much I loved this book. One thing I really appreciate about Kelley is her willingness to write short stories about the world she's created, and from what I've read, she does it very well, too. This book contains four stories about two of the most important men of Otherworld Clayton and Jeremy.

Infusion - Told from Malcolm's POV, this is the story of Jeremy's conception and birth. I'd read the stories about Clay first, and one of the things that they reemphasized for me is how different Jeremy is from his father, Malcolm. I'd kinda wondered how Jeremy turned out the way he did, but after reading this story, it's obvious that his personality matches his grandfather, Edward. To be honest, this isn't a happy story, but it is interesting.

Savage - Told from Clay's POV, this is the story of how Jeremy rescued and domesticated Clay, who was running around the Bayou as a child werewolf. Several of the scenes depicted in this story (which is more like a novella) have been mentioned in other books. I very much enjoyed seeing them fleshed out. You really get a sense of why Clay is the way he is, but you learn just as much about Jeremy. Out of everything I've ever read, this non-traditional father/son relationship is one of my favorites.

Ascension - Told from Clay's POV, this is the story of how Jeremy became Alpha. There's a lot of Pack politics in this story. Plus, the Jeremy-Clay-Malcolm dynamic is very interesting. It's easy to dismiss Clay as some sort of psycho killer (which, as this story indicates, is a rep worked very hard to establish), but to do that is to make the same mistake as Malcolm. Malcolm kills mutts/humans because he likes it - it's a selfish impulse. Clay kills because he's eliminating a threat - it's a necessary act to protect Jeremy and the Pack. Malcolm assumes that just because Clay is as an effective killer as him, then they must be alike in all other areas. In doing so, he completely underestimates Clayton's loyalty. No one is more important to Clay than Jeremy. He will die to save his Alpha. Period. This is also a trait he exhibits later on with Elena. He is a character with multiple levels that, given how he's written, are easy to overlook in the full stories. It's hard to walk away from these two stories without a deeper appreciation and understanding of Clay (and Jeremy).

Kitsunegari - Told from Jeremy's POV, this story gives us some insight into his mysterious abilities and his mother's people. We also get to learn more about his relationship with Jaime. There are two things that I particularly loved about this story 1. Jeremy refers to Jaime as his lover, partner, and mate. I can remember Elena saying almost the exact thing about Clay, which seems to be Kelley's way of saying "hey, these guys are a seriously hot, seriously committed couple even if they don't get as much page time as Elena/Clay" and 2. At one point, Jeremy says that he, for the first time, understands how Clay feels and acts when Elena is threatened - I love the idea of rational, calm, polite Jeremy kicking into action mode and blowing off propriety when it comes to his mate.
